Hand Made
in the Scottish Highlands.

Green Cabin Yarns is located in Assynt on the North West Coast of Scotland in a lovely wee crofting township called Achmelvich, known for its beautiful beach.

This small yarn business is owned by me, Jorine.
In 2024 I started Green Cabin Yarns to create a range of naturally hand dyed yarns,
focusing on dyeing in small batches to create a truly unique product.
Green Cabin Yarns also offers hand spun wool, knitwear and woven items as well as dyeing and spinning workshops and private spinning lessons.
Part of the yarn collection is created from local sheep flocks. Some of this yarn is hand spun and some is sourced from Middleton croft in Elphin.
These local yarns are complemented by high quality yarns from British wool mills.
Most of these yarns are spun from British wool but as I do love a posh yarn now and again I also stock some luxury yarns spun from imported fiber.

Green Cabin Yarns is committed to be as green and sustainable a business as possible.
That’s why it only stocks natural yarns and fibers.

Yarn and More

  • Natural Dyed Yarn

Yarns are dyed with local plant dyes and ethically sourced dye materials. Yarns are dyed in small batches resulting in colours that will be similar between batches but never exactly the same. This results in a range of unique yarns.

  • Weaving

Some yarns are selected to be turned into woven items. From delicate scarves to comfortable warm blankets. All 100% natural materials.

  • Spinning

Yarns are hand spun from local fleece as well as British carded tops. Green Cabin Yarns organises regular spinning workshops but private lessons can also be booked.

  • Octo

The Octo family started when Jorine discovered a lack of toys made from all natural materials.

Every Octo is made from recycled cotton rope with Oeko-Tex certification, and is filled with local sheep wool.
